What is a TSR file?

TSR files mostly belong to SignTool. TSR files serve several distinct functions. Most often, they hold a Timestamp Response used in digital signature processes. When a document is signed digitally, the TSR file stores a token that confirms the time of signing.

How to open a TSR file

You need a suitable software like SignTool to open a TSR file. TSR file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. The TSR extension is quite commonly used. The file itself is used by different programs with different formats. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 50% of all TSR files are Time Stamp Response files, which are using the popular certificate file format. A digital certificate is a unique, digitally signed document which authoritatively identifies the identity of an individual or organization. Using public key cryptography, its authenticity can be verified to ensure that the software or website you are using is legitimate. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 1 KB and 5 KB in size. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Operation Okay0. These files are often associated with token, response, testfile, timestamp, cert, marca, timestamped, constancy, changes, proof and docx.
• 15% of all TSR files use the popular certificate file format. These files contain text and words as well as binary data. A typical file size is 5 KB. Such files are related to dokumentace, zadavaci, priloha, smlouva, xlsx, poskytovani, podani, sluzeb, soupis and vyzva.
