Opening a TXL File
The TXL file type is primarily associated with Trimble Business Center.
What is a TXL file?
This TXL file is not a single type but a label for several specialized data formats. In many cases, it is the Trimble Tunnel XML file used with Trimble Business Center to exchange tunnel and geospatial planning data via an XML structure. For this type, the file acts as a container for design measurements and project data.
Another use of a TXL file is as a log file within the 10x Genomics pipeline. Here the file holds internal, often encrypted, log information from the Cell Ranger software used to process single cell gene expression data. More details are available at the 10x Genomics support page.
A smaller share of TXL files serves as a 3D animation data file (sometimes noted as a Tales of Xyllion data file), where they carry animation and modeling data.
- Trimble Tunnel XML: Uses XML formatting for tunnel and geospatial design data.
- 10x Genomics Log File: Contains encrypted logs for bioinformatics analysis within the Cell Ranger framework.
- 3D Animation Data: Houses data for digital animation projects.
FilExt.com note: If you need to open a TXL file, examine its header with a text editor to spot clues about its origin. Then, use the corresponding specialized software such as Trimble Business Center, the Cell Ranger pipeline, or a 3D animation tool to properly view and work with the data.
How do you open TXL files?
You need a suitable software like Trimble Business Center to open a TXL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TXL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TXL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert TXL files:
- Trimble Business Center
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. TXL files are often referred to as Trimble Business Center data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Genesis3D Texture File
TXL file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the TXL files:
TXL is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes very many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all TXL files store the data in the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The files are often between 27 KB and 1 MB in size. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The following keywords are characteristic: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, ProductVersion, <LERModel ObjectType="4003", InternalVersion, CSAOName="LERModel" CSAOCaption="Model", http and xmlns. These files can be linked to logical, model, taxiways, turystyczne, lokalne and biuro.
- 10% of all TXL files start with the bytes aes.iv crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are often between 2 MB and 39 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: 0000000, 00000000041, 0000644 and aes.iv. These files are attributed to cxvg, support, chromiumx, readiness, chip and logs.
All other TXL files (70%) have different formats, such as DOC, config, TestDetails, Accessory, NIFL and sjf. These files sometimes refer to shreyas, chronostar, mandara, client, jina, assist, kruma or cavg. You can get all the details of your TXL file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .txl file to analyze" above.
Technical Data for TXL File Extension
a txl structured data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with TXL files
- Associate the TXL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open structured data files. Because only the current version supports the latest TXL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Trimble Business Center update.
- To make sure that your TXL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .TXL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
