What is a TPA file?

TPA files mostly belong to Retail POS software. TPA files are used in different systems and are not defined by a single standard.
In many retail environments, a transaction log file stores point-of-sale data. Such a file records daily sales transactions and is read by proprietary retail software to track operations.
  • This file type carries all the details needed for processing sales records.
  • In another context, some TPA files serve as a Vector CANoe test plan that supports automated testing. They are used with tools like QuickTest Professional and Vector CANoe/CANalyzer. For more details, see this resource.
  • The format helps outline test scenarios in simulation environments.
  • Other TPA files may be found as an audio file format or an archive related to game data, such as seen with The Powder Toy. These might also be known as Theme Park Archive files in some gaming communities, including those related to titles like The Witcher 3. Learn more at The Powder Toy website.
  • They store audio content or theme settings in a structured way.
  • Finally, there are TPA files used in game modding, for example as a patch file for Baldur's Gate created with WeiDU. These files modify or update game content and are part of a modding system. More info is available at WeiDU.
  • This patch format updates game data for enhancements or fixes.
  • FilExt.com tip: To handle a TPA file, it is important to know its source since each type requires its own application.

    How to open TPA files
