How to open a ULD file

You need a suitable software like DIALUX to open a ULD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. The ULD file extension is not found very often and is primarily used by a single program. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 85% of all ULD files internally use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This is a complex container format used by earlier versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows programs. Compound files always start with the bytes ÐÏࡱá (hex code D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1). The globally unique identifier of this file type is 1cb11142-62c6-11d4-a254-0060086e6d73. The file contains sections CONTENTS, DataItem0, VersionInfo, Checksum, Picture0 and TLibAttr. Most of these files are 43 KB to 670 KB in size. It is a modern file type. Files like these are about xled, disano, dialux, grafite, philips, asset, cell and lightplanning.
• 3% of all ULD files use the same file format, which have the signature ul. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 540 bytes and 36 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: atkh0100 and uldh0100.
