What is a VCL file?

How to open a VCL file

To view or edit VCL files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. The VCL file extension is not common and includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 20% of all VCL files start with the bytes 0C 54 72 69 6D 62 6C 65 20 56 43 4C 0A 01, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The file size is in the range of 150 KB to 2 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Trimble VCL. These files are attributed to overflate.
