What is a VDC file?

VDC files mostly belong to Microsoft Visio.

VDC files come in two main types. They can be used for storing diagram data or audio filter settings.

• Virtual Data Center / Visio Drawing Files: Nearly half of VDC files are used to hold diagram information for a virtual data center. These files often contain layout details such as network structure or system designs. They are similar in purpose to Visio drawing files and may be opened with a diagramming tool like Microsoft Visio.
• Audio Filter Files: About one‐quarter of VDC files serve as audio filter or headphone measurement data files. They are used with tools like Viper4Android FX and are part of processes such as AutoEQ headphone calibration.

How do you open VDC files?

VDC file format:

To view or edit VDC files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the VDC files:

VDC is rarely used as a file extension and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 40% of all VDC files start with the magic bytes 5D 00 00 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. VDC files can be up to 110 KB in size, but are often around 480 bytes - 33 KB. The file type is relatively new. Some examples of file names are sites.vdc or users.vdc.
• 30% of all VDC files start with the magic bytes SR_44100:, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The file size is in the range of 860 bytes to 1 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as SR_44100. These files are attributed to sony and arise.
