What is a VVC file

VVC files mostly belong to VVC Editor app. VVC files come in two main types.
One type is a video editing project file. This file stores project data as a ZIP archive. It holds timelines, effects, media references, and settings used by the VVC Editor app (also known as a VMate project file by VLLO). In this format, the file acts as a container that bundles many elements needed for editing.
The other type is a Versatile Video Coding file. This file represents encoded video data that uses modern compression standards for efficient video playback. It is handled by the VVC Video Decoder and may work with capable media players such as VLC.

How to open VVC files

You need a suitable software like VVC Editor app to open a VVC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. VVC file extension format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the VVC files comes to the following conclusion:

The VVC file extension is not widely used. Such a file is primarily used by a single program. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 80% of all VVC files use ZIP compression, so several files are combined and compressed into one VVC file. 5 to 30 compressed files are common. File names are e.g. config.json and \template\. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. The files are often between 1 MB and 70 MB in size. Project_20180601.vvc is a typical file name.
• 6% of all VVC files have the same signature 00 00 00 01 00. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 200 MB in size and range from 52 KB to 530 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: BLd! and B]DB. Files like these are sometimes connected to person-related data.
