What is a WDX file?

WDX files mostly belong to Mathematica. WDX files are not created by one program. They can mean different things depending on the software that made them. Below are a few examples:

Wavemetrics Data Exchange: Used by Wolfram Mathematica to transfer wavelet data. The file contains structured data that the program can read and write. See Wolfram Mathematica for details.

AAXSteel project file: This version is a project file for steel modeling. It is also known as an Advance Steel model file. It stores design information for steel projects.

How to open WDX files

You need a suitable software like Mathematica to open a WDX file. WDX file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our analysis of the WDX files produces the following result:

WDX is rarely used as a file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 30% of all WDX files start with the bytes WDX1, which are crucial for this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are 3 KB to 3 MB in size, with a median of 24 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. WDX1.
• 15% of all WDX files use the same file format, which have the signature AAXSteel1. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are often between 1 KB and 110 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: AAXSteel.
