What is an X3G file?

X3G files mostly belong to PRINT by MakerBot. X3G is a file format used to export 3D models to earlier versions of MakerBot 3D printers. An X3G file contains parameters, instructions, and objects that 3D printers such as Replicator 2 use to print 3D models. The X3G file is created after a user clicks the "Export Print File" option in the MakeWare or the newer PRINT software developed by MakerBot for slicing, editing, and staging 3D models for printing.

How do you open X3G files?

You need a suitable software like PRINT from MakerBot to open an X3G file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
