What is an XMM file?

XMM files mostly belong to 3DS Max by Autodesk. XMM is a file extension associated with 3D animation map files created using 3DS Max, a cross-platform software for creating high-end 3D models and animation. The data in an XXM file is used to define how the animation motion data in an XAF file is merged into a 3D scene and applied to objects therein. The XXM file extension was also used to store data files created by older GEX MP3 satellite receivers.
