Opening a ZVR File
The ZVR file type is primarily associated with Zoom.
What is a ZVR file
Most commonly, they store Zoom video recordings, which capture online meetings and sessions in an internal, proprietary format. This type of file holds both video and audio data and is best viewed with the Zoom application.
In other cases, ZVR files serve as a 3D model format or as a compressed archive for game data. Such files are handled by software like the ZVR Player, which can decode the compressed 3D or game assets.
How do you open ZVR files?
You need a suitable software like Zoom to open a ZVR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ZVR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ZVR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

ZVR format details:
To view or edit ZVR files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the ZVR files is as follows:
ZVR is not a common file extension and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 80% of all ZVR files belong to Recorded voice audio. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. ZVR files can be up to 66 MB in size, but are often around 61 KB - 31 MB. The file type was used 20 years ago but is still in use today. The following keywords are characteristic: ZVR@ and ZVR@@. The following filename is common: IC_A0001.ZVR or IC_A_001.ZVR.
- 15% of all ZVR files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "E9 03 00 00" at the beginning. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 23 bytes with most files being between 13 bytes and 23 bytes in size. A usual file name is binary.zvr or settings.zvr.
All other ZVR files (5%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your ZVR file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .zvr file to analyze".
