DBG format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our examination of the DBG files comes to the following conclusion:
The DBG extension is quite commonly used. The file itself covers a large number of different file formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in DBG files:
- 10% of all DBG files start with the bytes 36 91 4A 05 crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 960 KB and 9 MB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. Such DBG files store data about debug, ruckus and unleashed.
- 10% of all DBG files use the same file format, which have the signature 95 5F 2B 55 75 6F. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. DBG files can be up to 7 MB in size, but are often around 80 KB - 2 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. _+Uuo and CT65hl. The file name db.fatal.01.HW_Reboot.dbg or db.fatal.01.NE.dbg is characteristic of these files. Files like these have the following tags: fatal and reboot.
All other DBG files (80%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. Microsoft separate Debug format, GZIP, ELF, config, ZIP, Salted, ZySH, HWiNFO, FAC, Sonus and Session. These files are often connected to runtime, auth, diag, zysh, system, garminos, ainfo or trace. Just click the "Choose your .dbg file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your DBG file is.

How to solve problems with DBG files
- Associate the DBG file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open log files. Because only the current version supports the latest DBG file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available Visual C++ update.
- To make sure that your DBG file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DBG file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
