Opening an EPRT File

The EPRT file type is primarily associated with eDrawings.

EPRTFile Extension EPRT
File extension: EPRT
File type:  part model

What is an EPRT file?

EPRT files mostly belong to eDrawings by Dassault Systèmes. An EPRT file is a 3D (mechanical) product part model or design created with eDrawings computer-aided design software. The contents of this file may be stored as binary-encoded data or compressed into a ZIP compressed archive depending on what version of eDrawings creates the file. eDrawings Viewer and SolidWorks natively support EPRT files. However, third-party products like AutoCAD and SketchUp require eDrawings plugin to import/edit an EPRT file. eDrawings also saves the results of a product part's stress tests in an EPRT file. The file contains results such as von Mises stress, displacement, deformation, and factor of safety plots.

How to open EPRT files

You need a suitable software like eDrawings to open an EPRT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EPRT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EPRT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert EPRT files:

  1. eDrawings by Dassault Systèmes
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. EPRT files are often referred to as eDrawings cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
  2. eDrawings Viewer (part model) by Dassault Systèmes
eDrawings is a computer-aided design review program for Windows. You can view, edit, and share an EPRT (part model) file with this program. This file format is classified as CAD.
  3. SolidWorks (part model) by Dassault Systèmes
SolidWorks is a Windows-based computer-aided design program. It provides digital solutions for solid modeling, product design, simulation, and stress testing. The SimulationXpress package in SolidWorks can create, read, edit, and save a product part model or stress test result in an EPRT file. This file format is classified as CAD. EPRT format details:

To view or edit EPRT files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below you will find our evaluation of the EPRT files:

EPRT is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type mainly uses a defined EPRT format. The two most common formats are as follows:

The remaining 5% of all EPRT files are files with no common format, the following 3 formats exist: HSF. Tagged as analysis or study. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your EPRT file!

an eprt part model is a special file format by Dassault Systèmes and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with EPRT files

  • Associate the EPRT file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open part models. Because only the current version supports the latest EPRT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Dassault Systèmes manufacturer website after an available eDrawings update.
  • To make sure that your EPRT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .EPRT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
