How to open a GRM file
You need a suitable software like Microsoft SQL Server to open a GRM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GRM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GRM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert GRM files:
- Microsoft SQL Server
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. GRM files are often referred to as Microsoft SQL Server backups because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Minos File
- VISUAL EPR Input Data for FIntGraf
GRM file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our examination of the GRM files comes to the following conclusion:
The GRM file extension is not common and has no uniform or dominant file format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 15% of all GRM files use the same file format, which have the signature TAPE. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. GRM files are between 2 MB and 22 MB in size. The keywords Microsoft SQL Server, SPAD, TAPE and RAID are typical for these files. Such files are related to ment, automata, ftszamla, keszletpro and stdszamla, and often include person-related information.
- 15% of all GRM files use the same file format, which have the signature AC10. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 1 MB with most files being between 680 KB and 9 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. AC1032.
The remaining 70% of all GRM files are different files with different signatures, such as ZIP, EXE, SOFTWARE, topic and VSGF. These files sometimes refer to topic, seismogram or account. If you want to find out which format your GRM file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .grm file to analyze".

How to solve problems with GRM files
- Associate the GRM file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open backup files. Because only the current version supports the latest GRM file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Microsoft SQL Server update.
- To make sure that your GRM file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .GRM file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
