What is a PFB file?
How to open a PFB file
You need a suitable software like Type Manager to open a PFB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PFB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PFB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PFB file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the PFB files:
PFB is not a common file extension and is primarily used by a single program. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 95% of all PFB files are Adobe PostScript Type 1 Font files. They consist of unreadable binary data. PFB files can be up to 210 KB in size, but are often around 24 KB - 50 KB. The file type was created 20 years ago but is still used today. The following keywords are characteristic: PS-AdobeFont-1, CreationDate, Copyright, %%VMusage: 1024 and Generated by Fontographer 3. Such files sometimes refer to baiiplus and chanakya.
All other PFB files (5%) have no consistent format. Just click the "Choose your .pfb file to view" button on this page to find out what your PFB file is.

- Associate the PFB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open fonts. Because only the current version supports the latest PFB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Adobe manufacturer website after an available Type Manager update.
- To make sure that your PFB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PFB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
