PTE files mostly belong to Pile Driving Analyzer. PTE files are used for distinct purposes, varying by the software that creates them.
Pile Integrity Test data files are produced by Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) software. They hold measurement data from pile load tests and are used in geotechnical evaluation.

How do you open PTE files?
You need a suitable software like Pile Driving Analyzer to open a PTE file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. These files start with the 3 bytes  (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The average file size is 98 KB with most files being between 25 KB and 830 KB in size. The keywords [Main], globalversion=1, PteVersion, type=save, filetype=Project file of PicturesToExe, minorversion=33, CreationTool=PicturesToExe Deluxe, opt_scr_height=1080 and opt_scr_width=1920 are typical for these files.
