What is an SNM file?

SNM files mostly belong to Eudora. SNM files have different roles depending on the context in which they were created.

How can I open an SNM file?

You need a suitable software like Eudora to open an SNM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the SNM files is as follows:

SNM is not a commonly used file extension and covers different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 65% of all SNM files are associated with Netscape Mail Message. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 6 KB and 640 KB in size. The file type was primarily used more than 20 years ago. Some examples of file names are Inbox.snm or Sent.snm. These files are attributed to messages, drafts, trash and unsent.
• 10% of all SNM files use the popular SAMSUNG file format. The file is a SAMSUNG Kies backup file, used to backup and recover from Samsung devices using Kies. Samsung has released new software to replace Kies, named Samsung Smart Switch, which is mainly directed at migrating customers onto new Samsung devices. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The average file size is 1 MB with most files being between 150 KB and 4 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. tvmnn. An example of a file name is SamsungNote.snm.
