Opening a ZLF File
The ZLF file type is primarily associated with ZIP Utility.
What is a ZLF file?
For one use, a ZLF file is a compressed log file. This means it contains log data that is stored in a ZIP archive format. You can open these files with any standard ZIP utility to review the log content.
Another use is as a label file format that employs the zlib compression library. This kind is used by ZebraDesigner software for designing and printing labels and may sometimes be referred to as a Zeiss Lens File Format. For more details on this variant, refer to Zebra's official site.
A third variant is the ZTE version. In these cases, the file may serve as a log file or a firmware update package created by systems like zCAT for ZTE devices.
How can I open a ZLF file?
You need a suitable software like ZIP Utility to open a ZLF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ZLF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ZLF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert ZLF files:

See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. ZLF files are often referred to as ZIP Utility compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ZoneAlarm Mailsafe (Renamed .JSE File) by Zone LabsProgram ID is ZAMailSafe
ZLF format details:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the ZLF files comes to the following conclusion:
ZLF is not a common file extension and includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all ZLF files are based on the zip format, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one ZLF file. 1 to 2 compressed files are common. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. A typical file size is 130 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: LogFile. LogFile 2020-06-01 10.30.361.zlf or LogFile 2020-06-01 10.30.380.zlf is a typical file name.
- 15% of all ZLF files save the data in zlib file format. Zlib is a compressed archive file format that supports several different data compression algorithms. zlib is also a crucial component of many software platforms, including Linux, macOS, and iOS. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. ZLF files can be up to 17 KB in size, but are often around 600 bytes - 8 KB. Files like these have the following tags: date and pack.
All other ZLF files (55%) have no uniform format. These files sometimes refer to zcat, sensor, controller, inclusion, zniffer, motion, trace, fine or work. If you want to find out what your ZLF file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a zlf compressed log archive is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with ZLF files
- Associate the ZLF file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open compressed log archives. Because only the current version supports the latest ZLF file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available ZIP Utility update.
- To make sure that your ZLF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ZLF file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
