What is a PZFX file?

PZFX files mostly belong to Prism by GraphPad. A PZFX file is a project created by Prism scientific analysis and graphing software for Windows and macOS. GraphPad introduced PZFX format in Prism version 5 as a replacement for the PZF format introduced in version 4. It contains XML-encoded tables, charts, graphs, analysis, and other project-related information. Users have the option of compressing files saved in this format. Compared to PZF format, PZFX format provides secure long-term backup, improved file compression, and data modification handling. Only version 5 and higher support PZFX format.

How to open PZFX files

You need a suitable software like Prism from GraphPad to open a PZFX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PZFX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PZFX file directly in the browser:. The file size is in the range of 12 KB to 240 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <Created>, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, <GraphPadPrismFile xmlns="http://graphpad.com/prism/Prism.htm" PrismXMLVersion="5.00"> and <OriginalVersion CreatedByProgram="GraphPad Prism" CreatedByV. These files can be linked to data, analysis, project, graphs, graph, figure, assay and results.
• 3% of all PZFX files start with the magic bytes PCFFGRA4, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The average file size is 650 KB with most files being between 84 KB and 5 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: PCFFGRA4.
