How to open an SDI file

SDI file format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below you will find our evaluation of the SDI files:
SDI is not a commonly used file extension and includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 45% of all SDI files store the data in the JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 5 KB in size and range from 3 KB to 13 KB. The file type was created recently. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Table, created, dd_object, dd_object_type, dd_version, mysql_version_id, mysqld_version_id, name, sdi_version and last_altered. Files like these are about accounts, general, users, status, instances, error, slow and user.
- 35% of all SDI files are System Deployment Image files. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The file size is in the range of 3.1 MB to 3 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: $SDI0001. A usual file name is Boot.sdi.
All other SDI files (20%) have no uniform format. If you want to find out what your SDI file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with SDI files
- Associate the SDI file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open system deployment images. Because only the current version supports the latest SDI file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available Windows update.
- To make sure that your SDI file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
