All about SSD Files
The SSD file type is primarily associated with Specialized apps.
What is an SSD file?
Each SSD file must be opened with the proper application that created it. If you try a generic text editor, the data may appear as unreadable code.
FilExt.com tip: Always back up your file before attempting any conversion or editing, and use the native software or its compatible viewer to see the content.
How to open SSD files
You need a suitable software like Specialized apps to open an SSD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SSD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SSD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SSD files:
- Specialized apps
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SSD files are often referred to as Specialized apps data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Base SAS (Database) by SAS Institute Inc.The Mime types used with this association are: application/x-sas-data.
- Painter4 Script File
- Snagit Studio Design File
- Style Sheet Definition File
SSD file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the SSD files comes to the following conclusion:
Files with the SSD extension are quite widely used. This file type includes very many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 6% of all SSD files start with the bytes E3 70 18 E4 C7 0B E1 ED 07 83 95 02 7D 4C A0 CD, which are crucial for this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are often between 110 KB and 110 KB in size. Some examples of file names are settings2.ssd.
- 5% of all SSD files start with the bytes SSD crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. SSD files are between 1 KB and 340 KB in size. The keywords Admin and SSD3 are typical for these files. Files like these are about phpapp and check.
All other SSD files (89%) have no uniform format, often, for example, ZIP, DOC, XML, SAS and CHUCKIE. Sometimes used for disc, chuckie, elitebbc, disca, stage or flag. If you want to find out which format your SSD file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .ssd file to analyze".
