What is an ARF file?

ARF files mostly belong to Webex by Cisco. ARF file extension is primarily associated with the Advanced Recording Format (ARF) for downloading video recordings of online meetings convened on Webex, a video-conferencing software developed by Cisco. The ARF format uses Network-based Recording (NBR) and a typical ARF file contains video, audio, list of attendees, chats, annotations, shared screens, and much more. Users may play, edit, or convert ARF files to common video formats such as WMV using Webex Player or Webex Converter. ARF file extension is also used to store some resources used by Active Tutor, an online education software which has been replaced by easy4C Tutor. Pacmania II, a legacy video game uses ARF as a game archive format for saving maps, 3D models, sounds, and other game resources.

How to open an ARF file

You need a suitable software like Webex to open an ARF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ARF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ARF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

ARF file format:

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below is our analysis of the ARF files:

The ARF file extension is not found very often and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in ARF files:

All other ARF files (29%) have no uniform format. Files like these are sometimes linked to accounts, raily, hslr, practitioner, implement, learning, account, lecture, macrok, online, agile, class, orion, phase, using or week. How to solve problems with ARF files

  • Associate the ARF file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open video recordings. Because only the current version supports the latest ARF file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Cisco manufacturer website after an available Webex update.
  • To make sure that your ARF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .ARF file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
