What is an AVR file?

AVR files mostly belong to EF Player by EverFocus. AVR files usually contain surveillance videos recorded using digital video recorders DVRs manufactured by EverFocus. EF Player can play AVR video recordings. A MediaInfo analysis of AVR videos show that the format uses Advanced Video Coding codec for encoding. From this data, researchers have been able to determine that some AVR videos may be stored in raw h.264 video format. Other resources claim that AVR files use the MPEG Transport Stream media container. It may be possible to explain this discrepancy as the format uses MPEG-TS to wrap video encoded using AVC. AVR filename extension is also associated with the Audio Visual Research file format used by older Atari ST computers. These AVR audio files contain 8bit or 16bit mono/dual-channel audio.

How to open AVR files

You need a suitable software like EF Player to open an AVR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AVR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AVR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

AVR file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the AVR files:

The AVR extension is quite commonly used. The file itself is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The following file formats are most commonly found in AVR files:

All other AVR files (23%) have different formats, the following 7 formats exist: Audio Visual Research sample, ARAV and Obj. These files sometimes refer to report. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your AVR file!
