As a file extension, CGF isn't very common and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:

60% of all CGF files have the same signature Cr. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 44 KB with most files being between 2 KB and 300 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CrChF and CryTek. These files can be linked to anvl, viewer, glock, clip, holo, flash, hider, crucible and silencer.
10% of all CGF files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known by the name OLE2 Compound Document Format or Composite Document File Format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 500 KB with most files being between 120 KB and 1 MB in size. Files like these have the following tags: family.
