What is a COR file?

COR files mostly belong to GPS Pathfinder Office by ESRI. COR is the filename extension of files containing corrected almanac and base station data (SSF files) used by GPS Pathfinder Office and several other GNSS and GIS data processing and differential data correction software. COR files generated by GPS Pathfinder Office are used to improve the accuracy of positions captured by GPS devices. Insight II molecular dynamics and molecular modeling software saves output coordinate data in COR files. Georeferencing data used by various Geographic Information System (GIS) programs save georeferencing information as text data in COR files that can be viewed with a text editor. CYANA, an automated structure calculation software for biological macromolecules saves Cartesian coordinate data in COR files. COR filename extension is also associated with files containing drawings created with classic versions of CorelDRAW vector graphics editor. This vector image format appears to be obsolete.

How to open a COR file

You need a suitable software like GPS Pathfinder Office to open a COR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. COR files are between 16 KB and 230 KB in size. The keywords Terrasat v2, BaseLineLength and rsion 5 are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are R20180601A.COR.

All other COR files (70%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. 42's Core War compiled program, file and Compito.
