Opening EEP Files
The EEP file type is primarily associated with Arduino IDE.
What is an EEP file?
They can contain memory settings for devices. Some examples include:
How to open EEP files
You need a suitable software like Arduino IDE to open an EEP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EEP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EEP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert EEP files:
- Arduino IDE
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. EEP files are often referred to as Arduino IDE data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- EEPROM Data FileWhen used with EEPROMs this file is generally a binary dump of the EEPROM contents which then can be edited and rewritten back to the EEPROM in order to change its programming. A number of programs use this extension for specific EEPROMs. WinAVR is one, Intel's ERUPDATE is another. Related links: ERUPDATE, WinAVR

EEP file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the EEP files looks like this:
The EEP file ending has no uniform or dominant file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all EEP files start with the magic bytes :100, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. A typical file size is 2 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as :10003000FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFD0, :10004000FFFFFFFFFFF and :10002000FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFE0. A usual file name is Document.eep or TransistorTester.eep. These files are often associated with transistor and tester.
- 15% of all EEP files start with the magic bytes 2C 0A, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. EEP files are between 2 KB and 36 KB in size. The keywords (>ElDZa are typical for these files.
All other EEP files (70%) have no uniform format. They are often associated with mario, eeprom, super, bkupdata, dragonfly, indesit or unknown. If you want to find out what your EEP file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for EEP File Extension
an eep binary data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with EEP files
- Associate the EEP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open binary data files. Because only the current version supports the latest EEP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Arduino IDE update.
- To make sure that your EEP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .EEP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
