Opening an HRC File
The HRC file type is primarily associated with 3DSimED.
What is an HRC file?
They contain structured information that defines how different parts of a 3D model relate to each other. This data helps systems control movement and physics.
Common uses include:
How to open HRC files
You need a suitable software like 3DSimED to open an HRC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your HRC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a HRC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert HRC files:
- 3DSimED
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. HRC files are often referred to as 3DSimED data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- SoftImage Model Geometry File
HRC format details:
To view or edit HRC files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the HRC files looks like this:
HRC is rarely used as a file extension and includes very many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all HRC files have the same signature :HEADER_BLOCK. The contents of these files are partially readable by a human. A typical file size is 760 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. :HEADER_BLOCK 2, SKELETON, root, chest, head, l_chest, l_collar and :BONES 21.
- 15% of all HRC files start with the bytes level0 { scene = crucial for this file format. The contents of these files are partially readable with a text editor. The files are often between 49 bytes and 110 bytes in size. The keywords level0, switch = 0, name and scene = model.edf are typical for these files. An example of a file name is chassis.hrc.
All other HRC files (70%) have different formats, often, for example, HRC Language and SEED. Files like these are sometimes linked to null, steer or root. Just click the "Choose your .hrc file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your HRC file is.
Technical Data for HRC File Extension
an hrc 3D data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with HRC files
- Associate the HRC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open 3d data files. Because only the current version supports the latest HRC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available 3DSimED update.
- To make sure that your HRC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .HRC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
