Opening HTS Files
The HTS file type is primarily associated with HEC-DSSVue.
What is an HTS file?
- Hydrological Time Series: These files store water data such as rainfall records and flow measurements. They are used by systems like HEC-DSSVue (HEC-DSSVue) and Hydrognomon. Data may be encoded in UTF-8 and is used for managing time series in water resource studies.
- High-throughput Screening: Some HTS files capture results from automated imaging experiments. They are produced by equipment like the ImageXpress Micro High Content Screening System and managed by HCS Studio (Molecular Devices).
- Encrypted Video: In other cases, an HTS file is an encrypted container. It holds video data using NationalChip encryption methods for HiSilicon video files.
FilExt.com notes: Each variant uses its own internal format. To open an HTS file, use the dedicated software that created it. Use the vendor documentation for details on conversion or display if necessary.
How do you open HTS files?
You need a suitable software like HEC-DSSVue to open an HTS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your HTS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a HTS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert HTS files:
- HEC-DSSVue
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. HTS files are often referred to as HEC-DSSVue data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Troj/DelSpy-EThe malware known as Troj/DelSpy-E installs a file named MSJWER.HTS.
HTS file extension format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the HTS files is as follows:
HTS is not a commonly used file extension and includes many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all HTS files start with the magic bytes Version=2 , which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. Most of these files are 10 KB to 570 KB in size. The keywords Count, Version=2, Comment=, Title=, Unit=mm, Timezone=EET (UTC+0200), Actual_offset=0,0, Time_step and Variable are typical for these files. Such files are related to agrifield.
- 10% of all HTS files start with the bytes GxPvr_Add3Des_For_NationalChip crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The file size is in the range of 25 MB to 320 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: GxPvr_Add3Des_For_NationalChip. The file name 0000.hts is typical for these files.
All the rest of the HTS files (75%) have different formats. These files sometimes refer to hirestextures, zelda, majora, mask, mario or star. You can get all the details of your HTS file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .hts file to analyze" above.

How to solve problems with HTS files
- Associate the HTS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest HTS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available HEC-DSSVue update.
- To make sure that your HTS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .HTS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
