Opening JRP Files
The JRP file type is primarily associated with JMP.
What is a JRP file?
These files are encoded in text formats such as UTF-8 or UTF-16, which means the data inside is text-based but formatted to support interactive analysis and detailed project settings.
How to open a JRP file
You need a suitable software like JMP to open a JRP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your JRP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a JRP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

JRP file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the JRP files is as follows:
The JRP file extension predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 80% of all JRP files store the data in the UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. Most of these files are 700 bytes to 180 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: Add Rows, New Table, New Script, New Column, Source, Open and Set Values. These files are often associated with graph, distribution, builder, model, data, exercise, squares, devore, least and plot.
- 15% of all JRP files start with the bytes AMc crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 370 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. AMc TS0000, 1997-2016, T28-T618 Auto Lg26e 2.34, T639 Lg69a2.20, WIS, TracStar and uAWIS. Such files are related to joint, auto, star and trac.
The remaining 5% of all JRP files are different files with different signatures, the following 3 formats exist: UTF-16 (LE). The category is regression, histogram, fishbone, diagram, species, only or time. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your JRP file!

How to solve problems with JRP files
- Associate the JRP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open report files. Because only the current version supports the latest JRP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available JMP update.
- To make sure that your JRP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
