What is an LB file

LB files mostly belong to Unity. UnityFS Use Case: Most LB files follow the UnityFS format. They act as bundled containers for game assets.

How to open an LB file

You need a suitable software like Unity to open an LB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LB file directly in the browser:. LB file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the LB files:

You will often come across the LB file type. This is mainly used by one program with a specific format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 75% of all LB files internally utilize the UnityFS file format. UnityFS is short for "Unity File System". This Unity Game Engine package is a bundle of several compressed Unity assets. Each asset may contain 2D texture, text resources, music files, scene objects, etc. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 420 KB in size and range from 20 KB to 11 MB. The file type is a fairly new file format. The keywords UnityFS and 2017.4.26f1 are typical for these files. The file name bundle_dict.lb or hero_talents.lb is characteristic of these files. These files are often associated with texture, hero, building, troop, unit, city, bundle and dict.
• 3% of all LB files internally utilize the UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes  (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). These files contain text and words, not binary data. Most of these files are 320 bytes to 10 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: ^LH0,0, ^MNY, ^PON, FB1109, Pl_b_850 and ^JST. Some examples of file names are 12 PR LB 002.lb.
