Opening PLK Files
The PLK file type is primarily associated with Python.
What is a PLK file?
Primary Use: A common use is as a serialized Python object. These files are created by Python’s pickle module to store data objects in binary form. They are meant to be loaded programmatically rather than read as text. You can learn more about this process at Python pickle documentation.
Other Uses:
FilExt.com note: Serialized files, like those from the pickle module, can execute code during loading, so only open files from trusted sources.
How to open a PLK file
You need a suitable software like Python to open a PLK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PLK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PLK file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PLK files:
- Python
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PLK files are often referred to as Python data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ATI Radeon Video Driver
- Op9630 Am32 File
PLK file extension format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the PLK files:
The PLK file type is used by many programs, each with its own file format. The file formats most commonly found in PLK files are:
- 15% of all PLK files start with the bytes 80 04 95, which are crucial for this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 40 MB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. core, numpy and multiarray. Such PLK files store data about model, output and data.
- 15% of all PLK files are based on the popular EXE file format. EXE is the abbreviation for executable and is the standard executable file format on Windows. The format can be identified by the letters "MZ" at the beginning. Executable files can also be used to distribute viruses and other types of malicious software (malware). These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. PLK files can be up to 1 MB in size, but are often around 49 KB - 1 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: GoLink, GoAsm www.GoDevTool.com, Win32 Program! and !This program cannot be run in DOS mode. The file name PRO100.PLK or DEMO.plk is characteristic of these files. Files like these have the following tags: import.
All other PLK files (70%) have no uniform format, such as JPG, PNG and HTC. Sometimes used for link, document, password, passwords, psafe or safe. Just click the "Choose your .plk file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your PLK file is.
Technical Data for PLK File Extension
a plk serialized object file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with PLK files
- Associate the PLK file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open serialized object files. Because only the current version supports the latest PLK file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Python update.
- To make sure that your PLK file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PLK file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
