Opening a PV File

The PV file type is primarily associated with Prezi.

PVFile Extension PV
File extension: PV
File type:  container file

What is a PV file?

PV files mostly belong to Prezi. A file with the PV extension does not have a single purpose. It can mean different things, depending on its source. For example, one type of PV file is a Prezi presentation file. These files are actually ZIP archives that package slides, multimedia and motion data. You can open them with Prezi software or via the Prezi website.
Other uses include:
  • TV Recording Files: Created by ProgDVB. They store recorded television programs. You need a media player that works with such recordings. More details are on the ProgDVB website.
  • Porcupine Parameter Files: Used by Picovoice for wake word models (a type of voice activation). Visit Picovoice for information.
  • ParaView Data Files: Designed to hold simulation or visualization data for the ParaView application. Check the ParaView website for help.
  • Protocol Verification Files: Known as Proverif files, they support protocol security analysis. Additional details are on the Proverif webpage.
  • Test Reports and Model Parameters: Some PV files store test reports (as used with PV-Wave) or parameters for models such as Leopard. They are specific to the system that created them.
  • Key point: How you open and view a PV file depends on its origin. Check its properties or metadata and use the corresponding software. This file extension simply marks a file as belonging to one of several specialized workflows.

How do you open PV files?

You need a suitable software like Prezi to open a PV file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PV file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PV file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PV files:

    1. Prezi
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PV files are often referred to as Prezi miscs because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
    2. CONSEL (Output P-Value File) by Dept. of Mathematical and Computing Sciences Tokyo Institute of Technology
CONSEL calculates the probability value (i.e., p-value) to assess the confidence in the selection problem. Although CONSEL is applicable to any selection problem, it is mainly designed for the phylogenetic tree selection. Related links: CONSEL Quick Guide

    PV file format:

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the PV files:

The PV file type does not have a uniform file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

All the rest of the PV files (75%) have different formats, the following 7 formats can be found: porcupine. Tagged as params, porcupine, model, abjones, acoustic, handshake, language or zzlk. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your PV file!

a pv container file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with PV files

    • Associate the PV file extension with the correct application.
    • Update your software that should actually open container files. Because only the current version supports the latest PV file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Prezi update.
    • To make sure that your PV file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
    • Click here to open your .PV file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
