What is a PVC file?
How to open a PVC file
You need a suitable software like UV WinLab to open a PVC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PVC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PVC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PVC files:
- UV WinLab
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PVC files are often referred to as UV WinLab data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

PVC file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the PVC files:
The PVC file extension is not common and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in PVC files:
- 45% of all PVC files have the same signature $PSD . The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are 2 KB to 20 KB in size, with a median of 7 KB. The file type is very old but is also used today. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as $PST, PHF, PTS, Serial, PSD 4, $PC "Product" 0, $PC "Version" 0, serial, $PDESCRIPTION "", $PTITLE "", PSD 2, utf-8, Lambda and WAVE-SCAN. The file name WAVE-001.pvc or LambdaReport KINETICS 2020-06-01 10-30.pvc is typical for these files. These files are attributed to scan, prdye, lambda, report and kinetics.
- 20% of all PVC files have the same signature [Pvxprg]. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are 1 KB to 29 KB in size, with a median of 8 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: [Pvxprg]. Such PVC files store data about customer and sales.
All other PVC files (35%) have different formats, the following 5 formats can be found: Panasonic Voice Container, DOC and XML. The category is export or layout. You can get all the details of your PVC file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .pvc file to analyze" above.
