What is an RDB file?

RDB files mostly belong to Redis by Redis Labs. RDB filename extension is associated with different file types. Redis, an open source, key-value database utility saves snapshots of datasets to an RDB file named dump.rdb. The file contains backup data which may be used to restore the keys, values, sets, and other contents of a Redis database. Oracle Database, a multi object-relational database management system uses data stored in RDB files to track the physical components of a database. Nintendo 64 ROM databases which are used to identify unknown ROMS are also saved in RDB files. Retrospect a data backup and recovery software saves backup data in RDB files. OpenOffice, a productivity software suite uses RDB files to save its interface and type description database. RDB filename extension is also used to store lossy or lossless videos compressed with Wavelet codec. Such RDB files may also contain audio, images, and text. RDB videos may be viewed with QuickView.

How to open RDB files

You need a suitable software like Redis to open an RDB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RDB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RDB file directly in the browser:. The file size is in the range of 65 KB to 17 MB. The keywords SQLite format 3 are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are AuditTrail0.rdb. Files like these are about alarm, data, trend and panel.

The remaining 45% of all RDB files are files with no common format, such as DOC, JetDB, RARCHDB, DRK, KYP, DCA, shd, DUMP and Copyright. How to solve problems with RDB files
