What is a SI file?
How to open SI files
You need a suitable software like XnView from XnSoft to open a SI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

SI format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below is our analysis of the SI files:
The SI file ending is used by different programs with different formats. The file formats most commonly found in SI files are:
- 30% of all SI files use the same file format, which have the signature #FLAGGA. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The files are on average 1 KB in size and range from 500 bytes to 28 KB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. PROGRAM, ORGNR, #FORMAT PC8, #SIETYP 4, #FLAGGA 0, FNAMN, #KPTYP EUBAS97, Visma and PROSA. Files like these are about lonf, salary, pasta, prima, sifil, konditori, export, inbetalningar, kundfakturor and fakturor.
- 15% of all SI files store the data in the RIFF file format. RIFF files store data in tagged chunks. There are primarily used to store multimedia such as sound and video. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 390 KB to 61 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. RIFF, OMNIMxHd, MxOf, LIST, MxOb, Movie and MxCh. The file name NOCD.SI or INTRO.SI is typical for these files. These files can be linked to jukebox, credits and isle.
All the rest of the SI files (55%) have different formats, often e.g. UTF-16 (LE), PDF, certificate, Lucene and SpectrumSI. They are often associated with servo, base, technical, report or flow. You can get all the details of your SI file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .si file to view this image" above.
