What is a BFS file?

BFS files mostly belong to FlatOut 2. BFS files are used in two distinct ways.

How to open a BFS file

You need a suitable software like FlatOut 2 to open a BFS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. BFS file format:

To find out what program is needed to open BFS files, you need to determine the file format. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. The BFS file extension is not found very often and is primarily used by a single program. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 80% of all BFS files start with the magic bytes bfs1, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 880 KB to 1 GB in size. The average file size is 410 KB with most files being between 190 KB and 480 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as .MaritzCX.SurveyBuilder.Core.DTO.PortableSurvey, <SurveyDesign>k__BackingField&<Exten and TMaritzCX.SurveyBuilder.Core, Version=10.40.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null.
