Opening a DAF File
The DAF file type is primarily associated with Digital Anchor Manager.
What is a DAF file
- Main Usage: Intended to be used by Digital Anchor database management software, DAF files are typically used by small to medium businesses to safely and efficiently store, retrieve, import, and export data. DAF files can compactly store data in binary or plain text format, and may be secured through encryption. Files can be protected with multiple levels of permissions specific to a set of credentials, for example, a set of users may be restricted to read-only access, while others credentials may grant permission to modify data in the file.
- Alternative Formats: DAF files are a type of archive file, which stores multiple files within a single file. Similar file types, such as ZIP and 7Z are also archive files, however, they are designed primarily for compression, rather than security. Alternative formats for storing data include CSV, ASF, and DCM files. These file extensions vary quite significantly from DAF files as they are not archive files or designed for security. CSV files store data as plain-text, often delimited by commas or similar characters. ASF files are used to store audio and/or video. DCM files are used to store medical images and patient information. All of these formats can be included in a DAF archive to produce a single, compressed file.
- Support: Windows users can create, access, and make changes to DAF files using Digital Anchor. Other third-party tools exist for both Windows and MacOS users for the purpose of extracting data from DAF files. In the case of protected files, the correct credentials for the file are required before accessing, changing, or deleting the contents of DAF files.
How do you open DAF files?
You need a suitable software like Digital Anchor Manager to open a DAF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DAF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DAF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

DAF file extension format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the DAF files:
The DAF file type is a very commonly used file extension and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 80% of all DAF files are based on the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 160 MB with most files being between 36 MB and 460 MB in size. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. true, database, dup-installer and 1048576. Files like these are sometimes connected to archive, arch, archiv, backup, archi and myblog.
- 2% of all DAF files have the same signature 0D 00 73 6A 70 20 69 6E 64 20 76 35 2E 30 30 07. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. DAF files are between 1 KB and 31 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: sjp ind v5.00.
All the rest of the DAF files (18%) have different formats, frequently e.g. Flash. These files sometimes refer to other or zfas. If you want to find out what your DAF file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with DAF files
- Associate the DAF file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open encoded and encrypted data files. Because only the current version supports the latest DAF file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Telecompute Integrated Systems manufacturer website after an available Digital Anchor Manager update.
- To make sure that your DAF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DAF file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
