Opening a FIN File
The FIN file type is primarily associated with SWIFT Alliance Access.
What is a FIN file?
How do you open FIN files?
You need a suitable software like SWIFT Alliance Access to open a FIN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FIN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FIN file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

FIN file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the FIN files:
An FIN file is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The file formats most commonly found in FIN files are:
- 25% of all FIN files have the same signature {1:F. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The file size is in the range of 160 bytes to 2 KB. The file type is very recent. The keywords AXXX are typical for these files. Such FIN files store data about statement and ebpcli.
- 15% of all FIN files are based on the well-known WordPerfect file format. WordPerfect is a word processor now owned by Corel and has a long history that began in the 1980s. It may contain formatted text, tables, charts, drawn objects, and images. The content also consists of readable text fragments, which can be viewed with the help of a text editor. The average file size is 97 KB with most files being between 9 KB and 170 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Courier and HP LaserJet 4L.
All other FIN files (60%) have no consistent format, often e.g. Corel saved find/search, PDF, ZIP and CCBPFRPPX. Often described as attlog or ahead. You can get all the details of your FIN file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .fin file to analyze" above.
