Opening a HID File
The HID file type is primarily associated with Image Viewer.
What is a HID file?
How to open a HID file
You need a suitable software like Image Viewer to open a HID file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your HID file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a HID file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert HID files:
- Image Viewer
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. HID files are often referred to as Image Viewer raster images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Sony EricssonThis is a renamed tar archive that contains a .KCF control file and often an image or other related files. The phone will untar and use the configuration file when the .HID file is loaded. This file format is classified as Archive.
HID file format:
To find out what program is needed to open HID files, you need to determine the file format. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the HID files is as follows:
The HID file extension is quite common and includes various formats for various programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 55% of all HID files are based on the well-known JPG file format. JPEG is the standard image format for lossy and compressed image data. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 85 KB with most files being between 3 KB and 1 MB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: JFIF and Exif. Some examples of file names are 2020-06-01 10.30.jpg.hid. Such files are related to imagejpeg, imag, photo, jpeg, received, media, share and orca.
- 15% of all HID files start with the bytes ABIF crucial for this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 620 KB to 870 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ,tdir, ABIF and 60-460. These files are attributed to ladder, algf and plex.
All other HID files (30%) have no consistent format, the following 5 formats exist: MP4 and zNo. The category is desktop, cpopen, maxpro, mouse, host or tool. If you want to find out what your HID file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with HID files
- Associate the HID file extension with the correct application.
