50% of all NIT files use the same file format, which have the signature XMIN . These files are not plain text files, so they also contain binary data. The file size is in the range of 570 bytes to 600 bytes. The file type is old but is used even today. The following keywords are characteristic: XMIN, YMIN and INFO. A usual file name is arc0000.nit.
20% of all NIT files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "MIN " at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view the contents and find segments of text. The files are on average 570 bytes in size and range from 570 bytes to 600 bytes. The files contain the following words: MIN, MAX and NIT. arc0001.nit or arc0003.nit is a typical file name.
