Opening a TSX File
The TSX file type is primarily associated with Visual Studio Code.
What is a TSX file?
TSX files are mainly used in React projects. They allow developers to combine TypeScript code with XML-like markup (JSX) to build user interfaces. The code in these files is usually transpiled into JavaScript before it runs in a browser.
- React Components: Most TSX files contain React component code. They are edited with tools like Visual Studio Code and are key to modern web development. See an example in the React Tree View documentation.
- XML Tilesets: Some TSX files are used as XML tilesets in the Tiled Map Editor, which is common in game development. More details are available at Tiled Map Editor.
- Test and Data Formats: A few TSX files serve as test files for HBM Catman Easy (refer to HBM) or appear as zipped data, for example in GaBi format.
FilExt.com notes: TSX stands for TypeScript JSX. Depending on the context, the file might be a source code file for React or an XML file for map tiles. Check its contents to decide which software to use for opening it.
How do you open TSX files?
You need a suitable software like Visual Studio Code to open a TSX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TSX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TSX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

How to extract texts from TSX files or capture a screenshot to PDF, JPG, DOCX, TXT, ...
You can extract texts from TSX file or capture a preview screenshot using our online TSX file viewer:- To do this, click the button "Choose your .tsx file to view" on this page.
- Your TSX file will then be displayed in the browser.
- Now click on "Save as..." at the top of the page.
- Then choose the file format (e.g. JPG, PDF, DOCX, TXT, ...) you want.
- Download the converted file.
Programs that open and convert TSX files:
- Visual Studio Code
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. TSX files are often referred to as Visual Studio Code developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

TSX file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below you will find our evaluation of the TSX files:
The TSX file extension is used very often and covers different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in TSX files are:
- 60% of all TSX files use the popular Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. Most of these files are 400 bytes to 7 KB in size. The file type is very recent. The files contain the following words: import, from 'react'; and import React. The file name index.tsx or App.tsx is characteristic of these files. Files like these are about screen, icon, page, sign, button, about, graph and logo.
- 10% of all TSX files are Tiled Tile Set files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The files are 210 bytes to 15 KB in size, with a median of 260 bytes. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, columns, tilecount, name, tiledversion, image source, tilewidth="32" tileheight="32", <tileset version="1.4" and Gather. A common filename is tiles.tsx. Such files are related to tileset and gather.
All other TSX files (30%) have different formats, the following 6 formats exist: MSX Tape image, ZIP, CATMAN and export. These files are often connected to data, export, report, ticket, start, home or list. If you want to find out which format your TSX file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .tsx file to view".
Technical Data for TSX File Extension
a tsx source code file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with TSX files
- Associate the TSX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open source code files. Because only the current version supports the latest TSX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Visual Studio Code update.
- To make sure that your TSX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .TSX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
