Opening XTX Files
The XTX file type is primarily associated with e-Tax Software.
What is an XTX file?
They are XML Tax Data files used in the Japanese e-Tax system. These files hold tax records in structured XML and are generated by e-Tax Software. More details are available at the official e-Tax website.
Other uses include:
How can I open an XTX file?
You need a suitable software like e-Tax Software to open an XTX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your XTX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a XTX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert XTX files:
- e-Tax Software
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. XTX files are often referred to as e-Tax Software data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- xText (Source File) by Flambeaux SoftwarexText is an early hypertext presentation program. Designed for tutorials, xText took text files and compiled them into .XDB databases that a reader program could then display. The pages could have hyperlinks and the total tutorials quite large. Even though it was a DOS program xText tutorials worked fine under Windows with mouse support. The program stopped being distributed in 1993. This file format is classified as Text.
XTX file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the XTX files looks like this:
You will often come across the XTX file type. This includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all XTX files store the data in the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. XTX files can be up to 71 KB in size, but are often around 1 KB - 30 KB. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as xmlns, http://xml.e-tax.nta.go.jp/XSD/general, http://xml.e-tax.nta.go.jp/XSD/shotoku, DATA xmlns, standalone and <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>. Such XTX files store data about jyusin and data.
- 15% of all XTX files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "8C FE" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 550 bytes to 7 KB in size. The file name Character Generation.xtx or Constants.xtx is characteristic of these files. Files like these are about generation, character, suspicion, business, levels and table.
The remaining 65% of all XTX files are different files with different signatures, such as Ability document, xet and DFvN. These files are often connected to resume, deedy, openfont, poem, splash, diagnostics, font or surf. Just click the "Choose your .xtx file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your XTX file is.
Technical Data for XTX File Extension
an xtx data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with XTX files
- Associate the XTX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest XTX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available e-Tax Software update.
- To make sure that your XTX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .XTX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
