Opening DSV Files
The DSV file type is primarily associated with SQL Server.
What is a DSV file
How can I open a DSV file?
You need a suitable software like SQL Server to open a DSV file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DSV file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DSV file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DSV files:
- SQL Server by Microsoft
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DSV files are often referred to as SQL Server databases because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DAZ Studio (vertex map) by DAZDAZ Studio is a cross-platform 3D graphics creation/animation software with a wide range of features for 3D modelling, animation, simulation/rendering. DAZ Studio used to store vertex maps (also called UV maps) in a serialized binary file format with a DSV file extension that is now deprecated. This file format is classified as 3D Image. - DeSmuME (saved game) by DeSmuMEDeSmuME is an emulator software that allows PC users to play Nintendo DS games on computers. During gameplay, users may save their progress and continue at a later time. Such saved game progress is stored in a DSV file. This file format is classified as Game. Related links: Nintendo DS
DSV file extension format:
To find out what program is needed to open DSV files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the DSV files is as follows:
DSV is one of the most common file extensions and includes different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 30% of all DSV files start with the bytes NOID|, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The average file size is 500 bytes with most files being between 130 bytes and 5 KB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. NOID, NPWP, NAMA, NOIDH, PAJAK, MASA, JUMLAH, NOMOR and PEMBELI. Files like these have the following tags: pemicudetil, pemicu, pmnpwppembeli, penguji, pengujidetil, saldouang, aseaeoirekdom, bayarpph and hpppib.
- 9% of all DSV files start with the bytes VFSAVE crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The average file size is 10 MB with most files being between 2 MB and 39 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as IDATx, IHDR and VFSAVE. Examples of file names are _autosave_0.dsv or _lastexit_.dsv. Such files are related to autosave, lastexit, save, first, world and game.
The remaining 61% of all DSV files are files with no common format, often e.g. SQL, XML and OIL. Files like these are sometimes linked to data, pokemon, table, mesas, totales or descripcion. If you want to find out which format your DSV file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .dsv file to analyze".

a dsv data source view is a special file format by Microsoft and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DSV files
- Associate the DSV file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data source views. Because only the current version supports the latest DSV file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available SQL Server update.
- To make sure that your DSV file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DSV file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
