What is a BAN file?

BAN files mostly belong to Specialized Apps. The BAN file extension is not tied to one single format. Instead, it is used by different applications to store various kinds of data.
For example, some BAN files hold animation data for simulation programs. This includes files used in train or racing simulators that store 3D motion or skeletal animations. In other cases, BAN files contain team data for sports games, such as those used by Dream League Soccer and Pro Evolution Soccer, where a Java‐based format may be used.

How do you open BAN files?

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below you will find our evaluation of the BAN files:

Files with the BAN extension are quite widely used. This file type includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 25% of all BAN files start with the bytes CD CC crucial for this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are 210 bytes to 3 KB in size, with a median of 620 bytes. It is a modern file type. Such files are related to panto, doors, left, brake, back, dest, pantograph, aramszedo, traction, whistle, derail, speedo, switch, front, anim, door, rear and tilt.
• 25% of all BAN files are using the well-known Java file format to store the data. This format is used to save Java objects to a file (ex. save game state as file) via object serialization. Such a Java object may contain functions and data like settings, images or videos. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 1 KB to 3 KB in size, with a median of 1 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Ljava/lang/String;L, Ljava/util/ArrayList;L, aidI, cor1t, cor2q, sidI, tidZ, validI and vidL. Some examples of file names are 1deagosto_ang.ban. Such files sometimes refer to deagosto, barcelona, arsenal, vasco, corinthians, gremio and ajax.

All the rest of the BAN files (50%) have different formats, such as PrintMaster Gold document, XML, JMXVBAN, ProgramName, SRANIM, Rotor and FmArchiveVer.
