Opening a CHX File
The CHX file type is primarily associated with Xactimate.
What is a CHX file
For Xactimate users, a CHX file is a zipped header image file. It packs image data using a ZIP structure that is embedded in project documents for property claims estimation and restoration. Details and context can be found on the Xactimate claims page.
For Granado Espada, CHX files store 3D character animation data. They contain data defining animation and model details for characters in a game environment.

How to open CHX files
You need a suitable software like Xactimate to open a CHX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CHX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CHX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CHX files:
- Xactimate
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CHX files are often referred to as Xactimate compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ZX-Editor (Second Edition Big Font Files) by OmikroN-SoftwareZX-Modules offers you many different abilities for your ZX-Spectrum Emulator files. This file is a big font file format for ZX-Editor Second Edition. Stores up to 256 different characters (or less), and each character can be either transparent or coloured and can have a size of 1x1 up to 4x4 normal characters. This file format is classified as Graphic.
CHX format details:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the CHX files:
CHX is rarely used as a file extension and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 40% of all CHX files use the ZIP format, so several files are combined and compressed into one CHX file. The included 2 to 8 files have file names such as 1.JPG and XACTDOC.XML. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are often between 3 KB and 74 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as JFIF, (:3=<9387@H\N@DWE78PmQW_bghg>Mqypdx\egc, /cB8Bccccccc, Bccccccccccc and cB8Bcccccccc. Such files are related to sclaims, header, sadjusters, sinsurance, scompany, allcat, associated, ssolutions, snetwork and sllc.
- 10% of all CHX files have the same signature *MOD_FILE_NUM. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are 72 bytes to 130 bytes in size, with a median of 120 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. *MOD_FILE_NAME, *MOD_FILE_NUM and *MOTION_NUM. These files can be linked to wing.
The remaining 50% of all CHX files are files with no common format. They are often associated with compression or pieu. If you want to find out what your CHX file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a chx container file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CHX files
- Associate the CHX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open container files. Because only the current version supports the latest CHX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Xactimate update.
- To make sure that your CHX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CHX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
