Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the CLOG files:

The CLOG extension is quite commonly used. The file itself predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 80% of all CLOG files have the same signature ÀÒÞ. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 150 KB to 8 MB. The file type was developed only in the last few years.
• 8% of all CLOG files use the popular UTF-16 (LE) file format. UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The average file size is 28 bytes with most files being between 28 bytes and 2 KB in size. The files contain the following words: OWN= and IMEI=. These files are attributed to backup.
