Opening DB1 Files
The DB1 file type is primarily associated with Tekla Structures.
What is a DB1 file?
How to open a DB1 file
You need a suitable software like Tekla Structures to open a DB1 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DB1 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DB1 file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DB1 files:
- Tekla Structures by Trimble
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DB1 files are often referred to as Tekla Structures cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Adressmn
- ClIPPUPPU (index to image database) by A.I.SoftClIPPUPPU was a computer program that provided over 2,000 clip illustrations that could be copied and used in other graphics design products. It saved the indexes of its image databases in a DB1 file. This file format is classified as Database.
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R (game data) by GSCS.T.A.L.K.E.R is a first-person shooter role-playing adventure/action video game compatible with Xbox and Windows desktop platforms. Game resources such as level information, sounds metadata, and textures used by S.T.A.L.K.E.R are saved in a DB1 file. This file format is classified as Game.
DB1 file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the DB1 files looks like this:
As a file extension, DB1 isn't very common and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 55% of all DB1 files use the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The file size is in the range of 150 KB to 45 MB. It is a modern file type. The file name xslib.db1 is typical for these files. Files like these are about model, silo, imalat and yemtar.
- 9% of all DB1 files start with the magic bytes 00 00 00 00 2B BD 39 2A 08 3B, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 700 MB in size and range from 700 MB to 700 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: \\x-ray\stalker$\gamedata\levels\l04u_labx18\. A usual file name is gamedata.db1.
All other DB1 files (36%) have different formats, frequently e.g. SQL and DPE. These files sometimes refer to pldata or players. If you want to find out what your DB1 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a db1 model is a special file format by Trimble and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DB1 files
- Associate the DB1 file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open models. Because only the current version supports the latest DB1 file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Trimble manufacturer website after an available Tekla Structures update.
- To make sure that your DB1 file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DB1 file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
