What is a DRX file?

DRX files mostly belong to DaVinci Resolve.

DaVinci Resolve XML file: A common use of a DRX file is to store project timeline and editing data in XML format. Such files are used with DaVinci Resolve where the text-based structure holds detailed edit decisions and timecode data.

Digital Radiography file: In some cases the DRX extension is applied to files that use an MP4 container to hold digital imaging data from radiography systems.

How to open a DRX file

You need a suitable software like DaVinci Resolve to open a DRX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. An example of a file name is Untitled_1.1.1.drx or Kodak2383PowerGradeR14.drx. Files like these are about kodak, power, grader, still, stills, film, emulatiion, grade and city.
• 15% of all DRX files use the popular MP4 file format. MP4 is a multimedia container format used to store video and audio and allows streaming over the Internet. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 4 MB to 64 MB in size. The files contain the following words: ftypmp4. Some examples of file names are 100_20180601_01.drx or 90_20180601_01.drx.
