What is an ITD file?

ITD files mostly belong to SDL Trados Studio. This file extension has multiple uses:

SDL Trados Studio files: These ITD files store project and translation memory data for language translation tasks. They are used by RWS software, and you can find more at RWS.

IPTV configuration files: Some ITD files act as channel lists or configuration data for IPTV systems such as MyTV Online2 and IPTV Playlist Loader. They are used to manage channel lineups and settings.

iOS firmware signature files: A number of ITD files are actually compressed (ZIP) archives containing delta signature data for iOS firmware updates managed by iTunes. Details can be seen at Apple iTunes.

How to open an ITD file

You need a suitable software like SDL Trados Studio to open an ITD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. ITD file format:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the ITD files is as follows:

As a file extension, ITD isn't very common and covers a large number of different file formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 10% of all ITD files start with the bytes SDLXARCH crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 45 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as SDLXARCH and sklu.
• 7% of all ITD files use the same file format, which have the signature [THIS FILE WAS GENERATED BY IPTVTOOLS] [. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The average file size is 160 bytes with most files being between 140 bytes and 180 bytes in size. The following keywords are characteristic: THIS FILE WAS GENERATED BY IPTVTOOLS, PANEL, [COMBO MARKS], [COMBO TYPE], [SCANID], [SITE CONFIGURATION], [TYPE], [URL] and http. A common filename is Settings.itd. These files are attributed to iptv.
