Opening a JPL File
The JPL file type is primarily associated with Justinmind.
What is a JPL file
How to open a JPL file
You need a suitable software like Justinmind to open a JPL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your JPL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a JPL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert JPL files:
- Justinmind
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. JPL files are often referred to as Justinmind data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Jprobe (Settings File) by Quest Software Inc.
- Siren Jukebox
JPL file format:
To view or edit JPL files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our analysis of the JPL files produces the following result:
The JPL file ending covers different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 65% of all JPL files internally use the ZIP format, i.e. a JPL file contains several compressed files. A JPL file includes 54 to 380 files. Customary file names are info.xml, thumbnail-2x.png, thumbnail.png, widgets.xml, \__MACOSX\._images, \__MACOSX\._info.xml, \__MACOSX\._thumbnail.png and \__MACOSX\._widgets.xml. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. JPL files are between 480 KB and 6 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. eotUX, fonts/UX and images. Some examples of file names are mobile-wireframing-library.jpl or diagramming-widget-library.jpl. Such files are related to salesforce, light, bootstrap, surveys and forms.
- 15% of all JPL files are based on the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 960 bytes with most files being between 230 bytes and 7 KB in size.
All the rest of the JPL files (20%) have different formats, often e.g. zlib and JPG. Often described as windows, icons, dark, charts, fabric or office. If you want to find out which format your JPL file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .jpl file to analyze".
Technical Data for JPL File Extension
a jpl container file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with JPL files
- Associate the JPL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open container files. Because only the current version supports the latest JPL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Justinmind update.
- To make sure that your JPL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .JPL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
